PRIMARY SUMMARY:

Oversees and coordinates the facility that is in compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, and requirements with in-house personnel and outside vendors to accomplish this task.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs Health and Safety audits and corrects deficiencies.

• Responsible for regulatory update compliance.

• Completes all Federal and State required reports and forms concerning Health and Safety issues.

• Coordinates Safety training in compliance with OSHA regulations.

• Order suspension of activities that pose threats to workers’ health and safety.

• Recommend measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials.

• Assist local management in investigating accidents to identify causes and to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.

• Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices, in order to ensure compliance with safety standards and government regulations.

• Conduct safety training and education programs, and demonstrate the use of safety equipment.

• Provide new-employee health and safety orientations, and develop materials for these presentations.

• Other duties may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or University; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two or more years related experience in manufacturing and industrial safety.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advanced knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Microsoft office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) to communicate and prepare reports and presentations.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interpret, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

Mathematical Skills
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentage, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situation where only limited standardization exists. Contain the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
