Junior Security Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Junior IT & Security Engineer to help with the Security Operation Center and ensure we are ahead of all potential threats and on top of all security alerts and events. As a key member of the IT & Security Team, you’ll be responsible for managing the security incident management life cycle and acting as a first line of support for our information security and IT helpdesk internal tickets. The ideal candidate should be experienced in managing IT systems and with a strong willingness to learn and grow in the information security field.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that we are always ahead of potential threats by proactive and reactive monitoring of systems and networks
  • Take a hands-on role in building security monitoring solutions, improving intrusion detection and response capabilities
  • Handle incidents from a variety of internal systems, monitor andanalyze the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) to identify security issues for remediation and initiate security incident response
  • Maintain records of security monitoring and incident response activities, utilising case management and ticketing technologies
  • Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises thorough reviews and analyses of relevant event detail and summary information
  • Communicate alerts regarding intrusions, anomaly detections, networking, application and operations activity
  • Support internal employees with help-desk requests such as onboarding and off boarding, users and access management (UAM),internal system reviews and monitoring
  • Provide support on the implementation of compliance, regulatory and information security policies within the company to ensure protection

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science (or related field like cybersecurity) or 2+ year of relevant work experience
  • Experience in Security Operations (SOC), responsible vulnerability disclosure, penetration testing, capture the flag (CTF) and/or blue team member
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and scripting languages (Python, JavaScript, Bash and/or PowerShell)
  • General networking knowledge (Network protocols and firewalls) and network security concepts such as attack tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Familiarity with Endpoint Protection Solutions, Anti-malware and compliance software
  • Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
  • Exceptional integrity and work ethic
